Our approach

Our return-to-sport protocol

Every sports rehab plan follows a clear timeline with measurable milestones. You'll know what week you're in, what you need to hit, and when you can return.

Acute control

Manage swelling and pain in the first 0–7 days with hands-on therapy, modalities, taping and load modification.

Restore range & basics

Get full joint movement, foundational strength and movement quality back before adding speed or power.

Build sport-specific strength

Progressive overload — heavy strength training proven to outperform light rehab exercises for tendon and muscle injuries.

Return to sport, smart

Graded return-to-play testing — hop tests, agility, sport-specific drills — before clearing you to compete.

Techniques we use for sports injury

Techniques used in sports rehab

We use the tools that work — proven by research, not by hype:

  • BTL Focused Shockwave — Gold standard for chronic tendon problems (Achilles, patellar, tennis elbow)
  • Infrared Therapy — Deep heat for muscle relaxation, blood flow and faster recovery after a strain
  • Kinesio Taping — Support during return-to-sport without restricting movement
  • Manual Therapy — Joint mobilisation and soft-tissue release for stiff post-injury joints
  • Therapeutic Ultrasound — Targeted inflammation control in tendons and bursae
  • Heavy Slow Resistance — Evidence-based protocol for tendinopathy — progressive loading 3x/week
Common questions

About sports injury treatment

When should I see a physio after a sports injury?

Sooner is better. For acute injuries (sprain, strain, fall), we recommend seeing us within 72 hours so we can guide the first week of healing properly. Old chronic injuries — see us any time, the longer they've been there the more deliberate the rehab.

Should I use ice or heat after an acute injury?

Modern evidence has shifted away from RICE. We use 'PEACE & LOVE' protocol — appropriate Protection, Elevation, Avoid anti-inflammatories early, Compression, Education early; then Load, Optimism, Vascularisation, Exercise. We'll guide you specifically.

How long for a hamstring strain to heal?

Grade 1 (mild): 2–3 weeks. Grade 2 (partial tear): 4–8 weeks. Grade 3 (complete tear): 3+ months and may need surgical opinion. Without structured rehab, re-injury rates exceed 30%.

Can shockwave really fix chronic tendon pain?

For tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, patellar tendinopathy and Achilles tendinopathy that have failed standard care for 3+ months, focused shockwave has strong research backing. Most patients see clear improvement in 3–5 sessions.

Do you treat MMA / contact sport athletes?

Yes. We treat amateur and semi-pro athletes from a range of disciplines — football, futsal, badminton, running, triathlon, climbing, MMA, basketball. Bring your training calendar to the first session.
